This post is not quite in line with me giving tips on public speaking from comedians and my own experiments. It’s one where I would love yours in telling people about public speaking tips from comedians!

The first edition of Do You Talk Funny came out last January, helping people of all kinds improve their public speaking with techniques from the world of standup comedy. I self-published the first edition and was amazed by the books success. My story however was not complete when I wrote it and there was a lot that could be improved upon despite it’s 5 star rating and 100 reviews on Amazon. (Thanks a million if you left one! Assuming you are not the guy who said I paid people in South Korea to write reviews. Surely he meant North Korea? Much cheaper and easier to influence).

Over the past 6 months, I’ve been working with publisher BenBella to publish a second edition, fully revised and updated, with a new start, finish, more examples, extra tips, an accompanying workbook, and a handy Tipliography section (yes, I did invent this word) at the back that lists many of the best tips for easy reference. The new cover is pictured above. DYTF re-launches March 8th 2016 and it is a lot better!(24.9 million early readers from North Korea agree).

Your help needed!

To be honest if you are on my email list and don’t receive any emails it’s because I really hate any form of self promotion. (I know, I need to get over it at some stage – I may have neglected to mention this fact to the Publishers!). I think the wisdom comedians have to offer on public speaking can benefit so many of us and help rid the world of boring presentations. Now I would love it to reach as many people as possible so I’m asking you, my readers (all six of you – yes Mam, I am counting you) for help in marketing the book and seeding it in communities and outlets that would benefit from it. If you have a podcast, have a friend who does, run a big blog, or can think of an influencer who would love this book, let me know in the form below. I’m open to anything for it’s March 8th release date.

If you have ideas, suggestions or better, have access to a large audience of your own, I would love to hear from you. Filling out the form below will give me an idea of how you can help with the launch. Specifically I’d love to reach groups like Toastmasters, tech start-ups, solopreneurs, podcasters, university and college students, public speaking trainers, teachers, professors, event managers/producers and Liam Neeson. Liam aside, this book will work for lots of people. Some may say for anyone who speaks 🙂

Thanks in advance for your wisdom and support!

*Note: Don’t worry I’ll still be doing all my normal marketing stuff (ie, getting my Mother to write a testimonial), including a pre-order campaign ( links here: Amazon US, Amazon UK, Barnes & Noble, BAM) and posting photos of penguins for no apparent reason.
